POTENSI TANAH LIAT KUTAI DALAM INAKTIFASI FILARIA HOOKWORM
Abstract
Hasil studi terbaru pada rural area Kutai Kertanegara, Kalimantan Timur masih menunjukkan tingginya tingkat prevalensi hookworm (38,8%) hal in dimungkinkan potensi reinfeksi dari penetrasi filarial hookworm di lingkungan sekitar pemukiman maupun dari area persawahan dan perkebunan kelapa sawit dan karet. Oleh karena itu diperlukan strategi pengendalian infeksi melalui treatmen lingkungan dengan memanfaatkan tanah liat Kutai dalam rangka mereduksi filarial larva di lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat reduksi dari tanah liat Kutai terhadap filarial larva hookworm berdasarkan dosis, waktu dan survival larvae. Diagnosa yang digunakan dalam penemuan kasus infeksi hookworm Kato Katz technique dan Agar Plate Culture/APC pada 118 sample komunitas, dilanjutkan dengan perlakuan eksperimen 4 formula pemberian dosis tanah liat pada uji percobaan dilaboratoriu. Hasil penemuan kasus infeksi hookworm di desa sebuntal Kecamatan Marangkayu sebesar 35 kasus/37,6% Tanak liat kutai secara efektif dapat mematikan filaria larva parasit, untuk hookworm dalam durasi 2,5 menit pada formula 100% tanah liat Kutai.Pemanfaatan tanah liat kutai dalam inaktifasi filaria hookworm dapat dikembangkan dalam desain treatment pada media tanah basah/wet soil yang terkontaminasi filaria larva maupun pada pengolahan limbah cair.
